Ravena is a sought after performer and instructor in the Loudoun County area. She is known for her energetic style, joyful stage presence and family friendly performances. She strives not only to entertain, but also educate audiences of all ages.
Ravena began her dance training at the age of 5, and made the shift to bellydance in 2001. She has formal training in all styles of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and ballroom dancing. Ravena has studied and attended workshops with many well known instructors across the globe including Suhaila Salimpour, Aziza of Montreal, and Emar Gemal to name only a few. She continues enrich her dance education through workshops and private sessions.
Ravena received her level 1 certification from the Suhaila Salimpor School of Dance which has been a strong foundation in her dance education. In 2008, Ravena was awarded the Aliya Quinn Middle Eastern Dance Scholarship which is presented to dancer's who show their love for the dance in their generosity, friendship, and kindness. She is the first recipient of this award. In 2009, Ravena was featured on the television show Artscape to educate the audience on dance, costuming, and the Middle Eastern culture. Ravena is currently a board member for Tiraz Dance Network which works to educate and connect the local Middle Eastern dance community and enlighten and influence our community at large about Middle eastern dance. This is just one of the many ways Ravena tries to give back to the dance community.
Ravena integrates Egyptian, Persian, and Turkish Cabaret styles of dance, with a modern flair, to create a unique style all her own. Ravena's goal is to perform Middle Eastern dance in a way that is respectful of its origins, and also reflects her own personality and background.
